About this Speaker

As Chief Operating Officer for Global Risks, Nate is responsible for designing and implementing business strategies, plans and procedures, organizational resources, underwriting and reinsurance. His unit has home office underwriting supervision of large and transactional commercial, international reverse flow, foreign/foreign, U.S. publicly traded construction and homebuilding accounts both domestically and internationally. Nate also has responsibility for the international field operations, which includes front-line marketing, underwriting production and agency services across the non-U.S. footprint.

Bringing seven years of small contract and commercial surety underwriting experience, Nate joined Liberty Mutual Surety in 1998 as a Senior Underwriter and later became the Assistant Manager of the Detroit field office. In 2002, he was named Bond Manager for the Cincinnati office, where he significantly increased profits and revenues. In 2008, Nate moved to the Plymouth Meeting, PA home office to oversee the Central Region. In 2009 and subsequent to Liberty’s acquisition of Safeco, Nate became the Midwest Regional Underwriting Officer for Core Contract. In 2010, he led the formation of the International/National Accounts product line as Chief Underwriting Officer, before being named COO of the newly created Global Risks unit in 2015.

Nate holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and German from Denison University. He is a board member of Liberty Fianzas, Liberty Mutual Surety, S.L.U. and Liberty Mutual Surety Europe, B.V. and has participated in numerous industry groups such as Associated General Contractors of America, Construction Financial Management Association, National Association of Surety Bond Producers and Surety & Fidelity Association of America.
